

Having 75 pupils, with two classrooms and limited number of teachers, Pembangunan kindergarten had set up two shifts of classes to provide reliable learning process to all children. The school was equipped with one principal office, two separate toilets for girl and boy, hand wash area, and a mini pantry, the school community were proud of. Thanks to Eight for Agape, Helman Sitohang, Herawati Aziz, Bonita and Abidin Siregar, Dian Carolina, and Kids’ Best Friend who donate and make the schools’ renovation possible.
In April 26, Pembangunan Kindergarten student were waiting in front of their newly renovated school forming two lines to welcome volunteers who’s coming from Jakarta, Bandung, and Purwokerto to work together in this village school. The youngest volunteer this time was three year old while the oldest was seventy six years old. The gap between their age wouldn’t make the spirit went low, in about eight hour volunteering work in school many works had been done together.
Volunteers worked with children creating bags made of recycle material such as ex banner for outdoor advertising and patchwork using left over textile. The children also decorated their school in colors using handprint on the front wall. Later on in the afternoon, some teachers and volunteers made crane origami using used magazine paper to be hanged up on the windows. In outdoor setting, volunteers were busy painting some chairs and outdoor playground equipment. Three Ketapang trees were also planted, while in the playground area medicinal plant garden were created on some corners.
Through this one day event, volunteers worked together learned from each other and share the same spirit to give. Lunch time was special also because of uniqueness and tasteful of local food such as Garang Asem, Fish Mangut served in a bamboo basket. Most of all volunteers share the same hope for the betterment of these underprivileged children.
Ars86care foundation
Ars86care foundation started with a group of Indonesian architects who were concerned about the environment and wanted to improve environment quality as legacy for their children. Ars86care is a registered foundation for children, the environment, and education, with three main programs, including Space to Build, Words to Share, and Value to Do. The mission of ars86care foundation is to promote and to create high quality, child-friendly living spaces in order to achieve a better quality of life for the children, who are the future of Indonesia. The group has worked with over 1,000 volunteers since it’s establishment in 2007.
