On the 26th of April 2022, ars8c6are foundation held its first offline Handover Ceremony of Pertiwi Pelemrejo Kindergarten after 2 years of virtual ceremony. It is the 12th school built in Boyolali Municipality and also the foundation's 37th school partner. The event was attended by the Chairman of ars8c6are foundation as well as the management team, Head of Department of Education and Culture of Boyolali Municipality, Bapak Darmanto, and his staff, Subdistrict Head of Andong, municipality’s Teachers Associations representative, local village authorities, school committee and representative of ars86are foundation school partner. The ceremony was symbolized by cutting the ribbon and planting trees. Amongst the attendees were the students from Pertiwi Pelemrejo Kindergarten who were very anxious to see their new school for the first time. As soon as they entered, the playground became the first place they ran to.
Meeting with the teacher representatives of ars86care foundation school partner was one of the highlights of this event. Since entering Boyolali in 2019, very little offline interaction took place. Two years went by since the pandemic and now there are 12 school partners in total in Boyolali Municipality. As a tradition one side of the wall in each school is dedicated for children and teachers’ handprint. This symbolizes unity where the school is unifying the beneficiaries, communities as well as the donors in one wall. A special tradition that is always very dear to each school built. This activity is done to built a sense of belonging so that the community will take good care of the given facilities for program sustainability.
The effort in raising funds for Pertiwi Pelemrejo Kindergarten dated back since 2020. Ars86care foundation launched the One Chair for a Million Dream Campaign which gathered communities to launch their own small campaigns to help raise money for construction. The donation for this particular school project also came from “Anak Indonesia Berbagi Bahagia”, a virtual music from home show which is a collaboration between ars86care foundation, Aksi Cinta Indonesia and Bagusföreningen in Sweden. The ticket sales proceeded to the construction of Pertiwi Pelemrejo Kindergarten. Through this effort, construction finally started in late December of 2021 and finished in April 2022.
We could not be more thankful to everyone involved in the building of Pelemrejo Kindergarten. Our hardship with the pandemic was tackled with determination from our kind donors and the support from the school and village community.
